Writer of The Month: Rose DesRochers interest in writing began in the eighth grade when she wrote an editorial on how she would change the world. Her editorial was published in the editor section of the local paper. Rose wrote her first poem at the age of 15. She began writing poetry to escape the loneliness that she felt in high-school.
After marriage Rose gave up writing to attend to her family. At age 29, Rose returned to writing. Life in general has influenced her poetry. Her poems have appeared in newspapers, magazines, anthologies, and journals. Rose has been described as a poet who writes with heart and soul.
Rose has now broadened her writing to freelance writing. She has written several articles and essays that can be found on websites throughout the web and has also been published and quoted in a couple of papers and magazines.
In 2003, Rose along with her husband Shawn opened her own poetry website, todays-woman.net. Other writers became the sources of inspiration and guidance.
In 2009 Rose and her husband Shawn closed Today's Woman Writing Community and launched
Today's Writing Community (todayswriting.com), where she continues to share her
love for writing with fellow writers.
She would like to thank her members for the nomination of writing of the
month. She states that among so many talented writers it is truly an honor.
Ms. Rose DesRochers a mother of three currently lives in Ontario with her
