This is a fun exercise. It is called a 'Found Poem' because you will be doing exactly that.
Find 3 different sources of literature. Could be anything from songs, to books, plays and speeches....anything really except maybe stay away from poetry.
Take the 3 sources and form a poem out of pieces of them. Do not use any of your own words at all. That is the challenging part.
The fun is fitting 3 very different sources and making something new and exciting out of them, while resisting the temptation to add your own tidbits.
When you post your work, list what your sources were.
Have fun! |

That is pretty neat. It has a nice feel to it especially since it is so current-being about the G*/G20 summits.
Another way to have fun with this is to take 3 different kinds of sources and create a poem.
As an example, I made one that included:
Simon and Garfunkel's 'Feelin' Groovy'
Ontario Drivers Instruction Manual
Macbeth-by Shakespeare
3 totally different things. Feelin groovy is a pretty light-hearted song...Macbeth entails murder and dark images and the manual...well it is a manual lol.
I wish I could find that poem, I liked it alot lol. |
