Not only is important to leave feedback! It is important to rate the poem or story that you have commented on. A rating with no comment is worthless from a writers standpoint. Members should never rate another members work without saying why. It is unfair and if anything it hurts your fellow writer. If you are going to take time to rate, you should take time to tell the member why you left the rating that you did. Try to explain in some detail where you feel the changes were needed. Please don't rate it low just because you didn't understand it. If you don't understand it ask the writer to explain it to you. Play fair and don't abuse the rating system. Anyone found abusing the rating system will have their account terminated.
Here is the rating pattern I follow. You may wish to use it as your guideline.
Rating
Five stars - Publishable
Four stars- This piece of writing needs only minor touch-ups to be publishable.
Three stars- This means that it really needs a whole lot of work. There are probably many spelling/grammar/typo errors, or that it was pretty low on content.
Two stars- Poorly written, many errors, little interest to the reader.
One star- I hope that it never comes to this. It would mean that it was not right for this web site and you would need to brush up on your writing skills.
Before you take anyone's rating too seriously, remember that none of us are experts. Some reviewers have not mastered publishing status themselves. We are here to help each other and most of all remember that you can be helpful without being hurtful. Even if you get a low review, don't be upset, all writers started somewhere and we each grow with every new write |
