Heya,
I know I haven't been too active as of late here. Really busy with job interviews etc. As well as with writing my screenplays. They had gotten quite behind I must say!
So yeah, dreams.
I was close to waking up...about 1 hour till my alarm would go off and I had a very vivid dream. Usually my dreams are action-type...monsters or gun battles etc...I have an active mind during sleep lol.
This time however was quite different. The dream was very vivid as I say and at the same time it had a very thought evoking essence to it. It took me several moments upon waking to shake myself of the emotion that it drew from me. It has inspired me to write a movie screenplay for it. I am not saying what the premise is yet here, although I plan to share the work later on. It is a very emotional yet inspiring tale about life, love and friendship. It has many layers to it that will leave the viewer crying, laughing and perhaps even rethinking the way they live their life.
I have several projects I am working on and many ideas sitting on the back burner. However, this one truly effects me, even in my dreams.
I am pushing all things I have been working on to the side to work on this project. I truly think that this work could be one of the most important pieces I ever create.

All from a dream.
I truly consider the short dream sequence a gift.
Anyone else have had a gift delivered in such a manner?

I'm getting started on character sketches, timelines and scene summaries now. I cannot wait to be able to share my work here, or even someday see it on the big screen.
So I better get at her lol.

Sweet dreams!
Mark

Hey Mark... That's quite an experience I'll say..!

I can't say I've had anything similar to that.. though my most current post is "Mon Reve" (my dream in French, she spoke french as a second language, get it? LOL). She was my "waking dream" - but as far as a major inspiration from a dream, not really. Often I have dreams ABOUT what I've already started writing, and sometimes wake with glimmers about how to proceed. That's as close as I have gotten to "the gift." But very interesting story.. Thanks for sharing..

Best,
Jon

Yes Mark, I do know of this "gift" as Jon so aptly calls it...maybe more of a curse to some. The original ideas for my novel "Drágön Spawn" came to me in a dream, which continued for almost 7 years as I wrote the story. When I couldn't continue I'd fall asleep and the "dreams" would show me the direction I needed to take. In the middle of the night the ideas would wake me to continue. Sometimes even awake all I would have to do was close my eyes and I'd see scenes that would eventually lead me through the story. No it's not weird at all...run with it, it means something!!

Best of luck!!

Oh, I'm waiting for this to happen to me! It hasn't yet in my writing, but definitely has in my art (my second love). There have been many times that I've woken in the middle of the night, sketched my dream and then have gone back to bed - and finished the piece of art the next day. I have a sequence of watercolours (my only watercolours because that media is not my usual) that has been entirely created in this manner. Perhaps now that I've joined this site and renewed my writing passion, this can happen ... dreaming is awesome! - Catherine
