Hey everyone,
TodaysWriting.com will be holding a poetry contest for all active members. The contest will run until June 30th 2010.
The contest will be based on your best 3 poems submitted and the winner will receive $100.00 cash prize.
The poet that is selected will be based upon how many comments he or she received, overall ratings and of course the quality of the poem.
The Judges Rose, Steve and I will make the final decision.
We are looking for active members that participate and offer valuable feedback to other poets either through the forums or the poems comment section.

I hope you are a winner Tangents. I ony entered my silly stuff because it was another way to keep myself at the computer. I'm not really one to feel capable of winning any contests. I'm not really a writer either; I just love to rhyme and have fun. I just hope people aren't upset with my taking up the space. You may have noted that I have been in Hospital for 4 months and have forgotten how to even make a piece of toast...but over time I will do better, I hope. ha! Rose gave me the Name silly face because it is rare for me to do anything on the computer with seriousness in mind.

Thanks for the encouragement Brenda. I must urge you to remember that any honest attempt to add to the creative flow of the universe is indeed a wondrous act. I enjoy your work so far and hope to see much more.

Of man's fragile mind
May lurch to stop
On the space of a dime
The twisted fingers

May twitch and ache
Not work as they intend
Alas, it is your soul
That connects
That broken divide

To who you are

Trust in your soul
To bare the wisdom

I love a good challenge. This is an awesome idea and I think it will also be a great learning experience. There is nothing better than a battle of the poets. The talent that comes out of people is amazing.

We’d like to thank everybody that took the time to enter and vote in the Today's Writing $100 contest. The quality and volume of submissions that we received was very impressive. There were so many great poems submitted and active participants that it made judging very difficult.
One member in particular really stood out though. Not only did this persons writing impress members, but this person also lent a hand to help out the community by reporting a spammer to me and starting a challenge in the forum. This member also actively participated in discussions and even when his computer had a meltdown and he lost poetry, research and work on two novels, and a screenplay, he still had time for all of us.
Without further ado, we're thrilled to announce the winner in the $100 contest.
Mark Parks (Tangents) is our $100 prize winner.

Thanks everyone for your support and for the accolades. I truly enjoy my time here at todayswriting.com
There are some incredible writers here and I feel extremely lucky to be awarded this prize when surrounded by so much talent and passion for the art.
Every day I spend here I see better and better work done by each writer. That is a testament to how much the membership here helps when giving feedback and support to fellow writers. Being around everyone here can only help an aspiring poet to produce the best work they are capable of. I know it has helped me incredibly.
Thanks to everyone again. Congratulations to Pebbles on his win as well. Pebbles has some incredible work posted and if you haven't checked it out yet, do so!
